Shell Helix HX7 K
Extra responsiveness for engines with more than 100,000 km
- Thicker oil that contains extra anti-wear agents
Shell Helix HX7 K has 30% more anti-wear agent than Shell Helix HX7.
- Special Active Cleansing Technology
Up to twice as effective at removing sludge as mineral oil.
- Better protection thanks to higher viscosity
Up to 27% higher viscosity than Shell Helix HX7.
A thicker oil for extra protection
Engines that have been driven long distances can be prone to greater wear and higher oil consumption, which can lead to reduced performance and premature failure. Cleaner engines can operate more efficiently. Efficient engines are likely to feel more responsive.
Shell Helix HX7 K is thicker than ordinary oils, which helps to reduce oil leaks. It also contains 30% more anti-wear chemical than Shell Helix HX7 to provide the extra protection that well-travelled engines may need.
Shell Helix HX7 K also uses special active cleansing agents to help engines to operate efficiently. In studies carried out by an independent market research agency, drivers said that their cars felt more responsive after a Shell Helix HX7 K oil change.
Shell Helix HX7 K is specifically formulated for modern fuel-injection gasoline engines that have been driven more than 100,000 km and that are fitted with catalytic converters and blow-by-gas recirculation. The oil meets vehicle manufacturers’ specifications and severe-service applications.
Removes sludge as you drive
A leading lubricant manufacturer recently said, “Once sludge builds up, it is difficult, if not impossible, to remove.” Tests at independent laboratories showed that Shell Helix HX7 K oil can remove up to twice as much sludge from a gasoline engine compared with a normal mineral oil. The engine was run with normal motor oil for a typical oil-change interval, and sludge built up.
The oil was then replaced with Shell Helix HX7 K, and the engine was run again for a similar period. An immediate clean-up effect was seen with Shell Helix HX7 K, and the oil went on cleaning the engine for the entire test interval. The engine got even cleaner following a second oil change with Shell Helix HX7 K.
Shell Helix tests
To clean and protect an engine, the oil must continue to perform until it is removed when the car is serviced. With some manufacturers recommending longer service intervals, an oil’s ability to stay fit is even more important. Throughout the oil’s life, it has to disperse more and more dirt – keeping it locked away and preventing it from being redeposited in the engine.
Our scientists perform a variety of tests that measure the ability of Shell Helix oils to resist breakdown and disperse dirt. We also test our competitors’ oils, so that we can benchmark our lubricants and demonstrate the benefits of using Shell Helix oils.
Why you should use Shell Helix HX7 K:
- Helps to reduce wear and oil consumption, and maintains cylinder compression.
- Up to twice as effective at removing sludge from dirty engines as a mineral oil.
- Up to 19% more protection than other synthetic-technology leading brands tested.
- Maintains viscosity and stays in grade throughout the oil-change interval.
- Reduces oil volatility and therefore oil consumption and the need for top-up.
- Smoother, quieter drive.
Specifications and approvals
Because lubricants vary in quality, universal criteria are used to describe oil performance and usage. Shell Helix motor oils not only meet these increasingly demanding international specifications but usually surpass them. Shell Helix HX7 K exceeds these specifications: API SL/CF; ACEA A3/B3/B4; JASO SG+.
